"The problem is not how this law will effect illegals, it's how it will effect Americans and legal immigrants."
Exactly. And don't forget all the Canadians who will have to start carrying their birth certificates everywhere they go ;-)
what am i missing?
why are the illegal immigrants demanding their rights?
they're illegal, they don't have the rights of an american citizen because they are not citizens.

this is not really a jw issue but rather a xian issue.. when i hear someone say that i feel a physical revulsion and aggravation similar to someone taking sandpaper directly to my spine.. as much as i know human nature...i am still really shocked anyone has the arrogance and stupidity to utter that sentiment.. i mean, ok, if you in your middle class/healthy/suffering-free life can conclude everything in your life happens for a reason, well i pity you...but doncha watch the news?.
the haiti tragedy?
new orleans?
"The strange thing is this statement is usually made to preach faith in gawd. It does the opposite, doesn't it?"
Yes, and they don't really seem to say it when something bad happens. Almost every time I hear someone say that, the sentence could just as easily be, "Everything good that happens to me happens for a reason." It's an ego thing imo.

pacman jones was never charged with a crime, yet was suspended for a year and then more i believe.
i'm not defending the actions of jones, but based on those standards big ben has now been accused twice of sexual assult.
"That, and I personally suspect that there are other stories that have not made prime time yet."
I think you might be right. There's allegedly another woman in the same area whose friend is trying to get her to come forward and tell of her experience with Mr. Rapelisberger, but she's refusing so far. And it's not all that surprising that she wouldn't want to talk, considering how his previous victims have been treated.
It bothers me that he can reduce his suspension from six games to four if he complies with his "Now, now, Ben, don't be a raper" therapy.
....my final jw relationship.. i did it.
i killed the relationship.. my cousin rick and i had been inseparable as jw's.
rick is five years my junior, and in many ways i tried to look out for him like a little brother when we were younger.. i have wrestled with an on again/ off again attempt to stay in touch with rick since i left jw's.
Thanks for sharing this, AK-Jeff. I hope it was cathartic to write it. Did Rick ever have to pay child support? I think there's a "Rick" in almost every JW congregation, with not only the inability to make grown-up decisions without "spiritual" guidance, but also the tendency to sponge as much as they can off their loving brothers. That he tattled on himself for oral sex is priceless though and makes me wonder if he's not dealing with some sort of mental illness (no offense).
Baba said: "I love you, Jeff. You are more to me than words on a public forum. You are a damned fine, perceptive, intelligent, compassionate man.
I hope we can sit and talk in the "real life" someday."
That was a really sweet and kind thing to say.

Did you see where the Georgia police officer who first spoke to the victim has resigned? Pretty disgusting behavior all the way around here, from Big Ben to his bodyguards to the cops who didn't take her seriously and so didn't secure the scene, until it had been cleaned.

I wonder how this will affect the Nevada woman's lawsuit.

Nice.
it seems that obama and netanyahu cannot work together and israel is being isolated.
the two men had a recent falling out and once again israel looks like they will have to fend for themselves in the arab world.
what i see is the usa distancing themselves from israel and becoming more pro-arab..
I just read this yesterday in a Vanity Fair article about Gen. Petraeus and it made me wonder how much influence he's had on Obama's Middle East policy:
"In addition to these two major wars, Petraeus is responsible for the politically delicate security-assistance efforts in Pakistan and Yemen. He is responsible for preparing military options in the event that a confrontation with Iran over its nuclear ambitions moves beyond threats and sanctions. He has brought an expansive vision to his new job, just as he has done in the past, pushing the Obama administration to rethink its approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the broader context of the region. He relies on the cooperation of Arab nations, and so must cope with their unhappiness over America’s inability to make progress in peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. It is such a direct problem for Petraeus that he raised the question with the chairman of the Joint Chiefs last year of whether the Palestinian territories should eventually be added to his command portfolio—they currently reside with EuCom (the European Command). Ultimately, Petraeus did not recommend such a change, but the general’s thinking reportedly has begun to influence the Pentagon’s overall approach to the issue. Petraeus’s primary focus, however, is on routing al-Qaeda. Far more intensely than commanders were able to in the past—recall those computer screens in his office—Petraeus oversees the ever expanding effort to target and kill Islamist extremists, using everything from pilotless drones to submarine-launched cruise missiles. He still tries to go to bed every night with fewer enemies than he woke up with."
It's a great article. I learned things. http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2010/05/petraeus-201005?currentPage=1

Yeah, that 68,000 number is crazy. He must have misheard, but I don't feel like listening to the podcast to hear what it actually said.
